Scrapping with: "Holiday Shimmer" kit

You can purchase the "Holiday Shimmer" kit by Pton Designs & Microferk Designs at Scrapbook Graphics.

Here are three Christmas layouts I made using only this kit.

Ty-Abaco Wedding layouts

My brother got married this past summer when I was in the Philippines. The wedding was the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. Really!

Here are some layouts from the event... I have so many more photos to scrap, so this won't be the last post. Enjoy =)

Staton's Harvest Festival layouts

Every year, my niece's school has a Harvest Festival. This was the first time I went so I got some great photos. The event was overall really fun.

Saving files in Adobe Photoshop Elements

When creating scrapbook pages, it is a good idea to stay consistent with your settings for each scrapbook page you make. This will make it easier for you later on to pick and choose which page you would like to use (for printing, sharing, etc.) and not have to worry about quality or size issues.

When I start up Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0, I create files with the following settings:

  • Instead of 12x12 pages, I create 12.25x12.25 pages. The reason for this is that some printing companies will cut off edges of your paper, especially when printing photobooks. Since the side that will be binded might get cut off, the extra .25 is a safety zone, although I never build anything too close to the edge anyhow.

My finished scrapbook pages are saved in three different ways.
  • PSD file w/ all layers
This is meant to be saved for later use, if I ever decide to change something within the document. Always use one text layer for the credits of who's elements you used in the PSD.
  • High resolution JPEG
This is the copy that I send off to printing companies, such as Arts Cow or Shutterfly.
  • Small resolution JPEG (600x600)
This is the copy that is meant for sharing with friends, family, etc. I go to File>Save For Web to get it down to 600x600 before saving it. Yours can be smaller than 600x600, but I don't suggest going lower than 450x450.

Megakit sale at Elemental Scraps

Elemental Scraps has 14 megakits for $1 each. That is the best deal around, believe me! I have bought most of them already for $2 each months ago... but now the prices are even lower.

These are the three additional kits I purchased:

My Shabby Valentine: 80+ elements and 50+ papers. The two main colors of this megakit are pink and blue. The two alphas that are included are cute, one is quirky and one has glitter on it . This kit is worth its $1, but if it wasn't one sale I wouldn't purchase it.

Springs Hope: This kit is greaaat! It comes with 70 papers and 150+ elements. The bonus 20-page bracket album is very pretty. The two alphas included are unique and beautiful.

Tricker's Treat: I love holiday themed kits. This one contains 80+ elements and 60+ papers. There are 3 alphas included, with only 1 that I really like. The elements aren't that great and neither are the papers. I would suggest getting "Sweet Treat" instead.

Happy purchasing!

Scrapbook Graphics purchase

Scrapbook Graphics has some of the most high quality kits I have seen. They are a bit more expensive than other sites, but for good reason! They have so many great and unique designers... each with their own studio, not store.

Studio Phuong (Pton Designs) has fabulous kits. I bought two last week that I haven't blogged about, but just now, I purchased her two new collabs kits. Take a look see and try not to drool!

Use the promo code "MyFriends" for an extra 10% off. The total was $11.48 for both kits. I am excited to work with these!

22nd Birthday layouts

Although it was over 2 months ago, these are my first layouts from my birthday. They only feature... =\ Hope that doesn't make me superficial. I have about 10 more photos to go until I'm done, so expect more layouts.

It is always fun scrapbooking birthdays because you aren't so limited to your choice of kit to work with. Usually, any colors and elements will go... besides Christmas trees and Easter eggs, but still... every "color" will go well with what you choose.

Elemental Scrap purchase

Elemental Scraps is by far my favorite digital scrap stuff supplier. They're prices fit my budget and the kits are great! [And no, they don't pay me. This is a true endorsement.]

Today, I purchased two kits from the site. Each kit was $1 each! I am really lovin' these $1 deals people! Here they are.

Scrapping with: "Festive Cheer" kit

I made these three pages with (and only with) the "Festive Cheer" kit by Elemental Scraps.

HM Scrap Shop purchase

These were the two kits I purchased form HM Scrap Shop. Each of these were only $1. Since Halloween just passed, I needed to add more variety to the kits I already have. There are lots of Halloween photos for me to scrap.

Note: It's HM Scrap Shop's birthday!
All products - 40% OFF
Dollar Day - 50 products
Digital Kits - 50% OFF
P.S. There is no notice of when the sale expires.

Free scrapbooking fonts

There are a lot of freebie alphas available to scrappers and even alphas to buy aren't all that expensive. But, if you want to add decorative text for the great price of free, Scrapbook Village offers at least 500 free fonts (even dingbat fonts) to download. They are categorized by name and download without the .ZIP extension. (This helps a lot since I downloaded so many and didn't have to unzip them all in order to transfer them.)

Remember, all fonts go in the C:/Windows/Fonts folder.

Funky Designs Playground purchase

I found Funky Playground Designs via Jen's Alphabetical List of Designers. [The list is very comprehensive and helpful in looking for new places to shop.]

These are the three products I purchased from Funky Playground Designs today:

All the products shown here were $1 each. Funky Playground Designs accepts Paypal.

Four $1 Megakits (limited time only!)

Elemental Scraps has four $1 megakits for sale! Can you believe it? Each of these megakits contains *at least* 50 elements and 20+ papers. I bought all four already! I don't know how long this sale is going to last, but get them while you can!

Requiem: Great for feminine layouts when you are tired of using the typical pink! This kit comes with three alphas (only two that I prefer), 90+ papers, and 100+ elements.

Sadie's Parlour: Lots of old school, antique stuff in this kit. I would not usually purchase this type of kit, but it was only $1. This kit is one of the smallest megakits I have encountered, at least compared to the other ones I have purchased from Elemental Scraps... Still... there are 70+ elements and 70+ papers.

For The Boys: This kit contains 50+ elements and 40+ papers. No alphas come with this kit. It is one of the smaller ones out of the four mentioned here, but still a value for $1.

Fling: Of all the $1 kits mentioned here, this one is my FAVORITE of all! It is bright and fresh. I like using it for summer, spring, and everyday layouts. There are 100+ elements and 60+ papers! A truly great kit!
